The Nandi County Integrated Development Plan (NCIDP) was prepared by the CountyGovernment of Nandi led by the Governor as required by section 102 of the CountyGovernments Act. The NCIDP is a product of broad-based consultation among diversestakeholders beginning with national and county government officers, the corporate sector,professional bodies, farmers groups, and cultural group, athletes and women groups. Notably,Consultations were held with elected leaders led by the Governor of Nandi County andincluding the Senator, The Women Representative and the members of the NationalAssembly. The County Assembly beginning with the Speaker and Members was alsoconsulted. All the views, programmes and projects in this CIDP emanated from the people ofNandi County.In preparing this document the secretariat made reference to District Development Plans(DDPs) for 2008-2012 plan periods, for Nandi South, Nandi East, Tindiret, Nandi Centraland Nandi North Districts. From 2013, it is anticipated that each Constituency will become adistrict and a sub County. These DDPs were initially prepared with invaluable inputs fromvarious development stakeholders in the respective Sub-Counties. The secretariat alsoborrowed from the findings of the 2009 Population and Housing Census and from relevantpublications and other sources. Subsequently, the secretariat analysed and organised the dataresulting to this document. In doing so the secretariat was cognizance of the fact that theprofile would form a basis on which Nandi County Government would undertakedevelopment strategies.Because it was done within a very short period of time, the law permits its review after 2.5years. It has been prepared against the backdrop of the long term development blueprint ofVision 2030. It is motivated by the collective aspiration for a better county by the year 2030.The NCIDP will inform the preparation of other plans and strategies implementation underthe new economic and political dispensation under the new constitution of 2010. The 10 yearsectoral plans, the Spatial Plan and the Urban Areas and Cities Plan will emanate from theplan.
